How Do We Work?

At TheraBuddy, we believe meaningful solutions start with deep understanding. ❤️

Over the past two years, we’ve taken a rigorous, scientific approach to explore the complex challenges surrounding mental health and reimagine how care can be delivered.

Extensive Interviews

We conducted in-depth interviews with patients, families, therapists, and educators, across different stages of life—from youth to elderly—to truly understand their experiences, struggles, and unmet needs.

Data Analysis & Case Studies

We analyzed clinical data and real-world case studies, systematically identifying the critical gaps, patterns, and dilemmas within current mental health care systems.

Co-Creation with Users and Experts

Our solution was co-created through collaboration with potential users and mental health professionals, ensuring that it addresses real needs, not assumptions.

Cross-Disciplinary Research

Mental health is a social topic. We conducted comprehensive research across psychology, neuroscience, gamification, sociology, and existing solutions — building a foundation that is both scientifically grounded and user-centered.

Dilemma in Mental Health

Mental health is like an iceberg.

Above the sea, we see only the surface — everything is alright. But beneath lies a deep, invisible world — complex, unmeasurable, and often ignored.

Accessibility

One adult in eight (12.1%) receives mental health treatment (Mental Health Foundation).

Demand is booming, but access to support remains insufficient, costly, and can even cause harm when poorly delivered.

Subjectivity

Therapy often relies on subjective conversation. Patients' ability to express themselves is limited by knowledge and stigma, leading to common misdiagnosis and low effectiveness.

Stigma

Deep-rooted stigma blocks help-seeking. Myths like "mental illness is weakness" or "patients are dangerous" reflect a lack of empathy in society.

Engagement

Whether traditional therapy or digital apps, most solutions are relatively passive without enough engagement especially for young people — leading to high dropout rates.

Complexity

Mental health spans brain, body, emotions, and society — but knowledge is fragmented, with no structured way for people to learn.

Lack of Prevention

Mental health systems focus on late-stage crisis intervention — too little, too late, too much financial burden. Early signs are often ignored until breakdown happens.

Unique Gamification Mechanics

TheraBuddy's gamification system is designed based on research and insights from young people, integrating six key psychological factors to boost motivation and engagement.

Unlike traditional gamification focused on external rewards, TheraBuddy emphasizes intrinsic motivation—helping users develop self-awareness, confidence, and emotional resilience. Our gamified journey nurtures self-compassion, healthy emotional habits, and personal growth in an engaging and natural way.
